Classic Christmas

If you are looking for a memorable Christmas holiday experience close to home, we recommend Classic Christmas.  Classic Christmas is an illuminated Winter holiday lights experience.  Visitors enjoy capturing picturesque photos, ice skating under the open sky, and zooming down ice slides.  The venue hosts a marketplace with curated and artisan items for sale, a Coca Cola shop, and food and beverages to enjoy.

When we visited Classic Christmas, it was packed with exuberant families, couples and children who were all having a great time! The Classic Christmas we visited was located in the parking lot of Memorial City Mall.  We were amazed at how many activities and photo ops they masterfully packed-in to a consolidated area!

We enjoyed the night of lights under the open stars amidst the twinkling urban wonderland.  Many festive families had their picture taken with Santa.  And before we left, we enjoyed a Classic Coca Cola!

Bayou Bend Christmas Village and Home Tour

If you are looking for a memorable holiday experience in Houston, we recommend Bayou Bend’s Christmas Village and Home Tour.  Bayou Bend is masterfully transformed into a landscape of twinkling lights, holiday merriment and a historic home life reenactment.

Visitors can enjoy strolling Ima Hogg’s beautiful gardens amidst the colorful Christmas lights.  You can enjoy a bite to eat in the food court area and take a picture with Santa!

Ima Hogg’s Home Tour is masterfully enacted by period-actors who bring Ima Hogg’s Christmas era to life.  Their presentation of the home, its history and the holiday story is definitely a “best of the best” feature of this event.  We highly recommend the home tour!

Both locals and tourists attended the event and enjoyed it very much!

Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of The Magi’s Gold

If you are looking for a “best of the best” way to spend time with your precious family this Christmas, we recommend Sister’s Christmas Catechism.  Sister, a Catholic nun, takes the audience through the journey of the Christmas season, its religious significance, and its timeless traditions with humor, cheer and sentimentalism.  The play, written by Maripat Donovan and Marc Silvia, brings the beauty and camaraderie of cherished traditions to life.

The second half features a zany live nativity pageant with artistic audience participation!

Sister is masterfully played by Denise Fennell.  She is a first-rate actress who intricately interweaves the script with improv, wit and a highly-memorable way of drawing in her audience.  When you see and experience this play, all you want to do is tell your friends about it and make sure they go see it! It’s a one-of-a-kind experience not to be missed!

Sister’s Christmas Catechism is truly the “best of the best”!

Sister’s Christmas Catechism is on stage from December 3-22, 2024 at Stages Theater in Houston, Texas.  Find out more at StagesHouston.com.

The Nutcracker by Houston Ballet

If you are looking for a “best of the best” family tradition this holiday season, we recommend Stanton Welch’s The Nutcracker by Houston Ballet.

Hosted at The Wortham Theater, seeing The Nutcracker is an enchanted evening for people of all ages.

Clara, The Nutcracker Prince, and The Sugar Plum Fairy mesmerize with their graceful dances, as do all the dancers, really, in this magnificent production.

The performance is especially spellbinding for children with the addition of larger-than-life animal characters, such as the regal lion, prominent panda and soldieresque penguins.

Houston Ballet’s rendition of The Nutcracker is truly one of the “best of the best”.  In its 52nd year, The Nutcracker features a dazzling set and the moving and timeless music of Tchaikovsky, one of the world’s most classic composers.

Rating: Five stars! “Best of the best!”
