When camping, the greatest challenge is mastering the task of taking what you need without creating a hodgepodge of stuff. When you learn how to do this, you achieve the camper’s rite of passage. We have discovered four products that offer innovatively practical solutions to cooking conundrums while camping. We have personally tested each of these products. We highly recommend them. Here they are:
1. Integrated cooking set and plates. We recommend the Pinnacle Camper. The Pinnacle Camper is a gourmet camping pots, pans, and plates integrated system. The pieces can be used to prepare your food as well as clean up afterward. The largest container which holds the rest functions as a welded sink. The set also contains color-coded dishes for four people. One of the pot lids contains a strainer. The set also includes a frypan, mugs, and bowls. The entire set only weighs 3 lbs., 8 oz. This set brings camping to a new level.
2. Integrated tableware. If you desire to carry and store your plates, bowls, and cups in one place, we recommend the Infinity 4 Person Deluxe Tableset. This set contains complete dishware for 4: bowls with lids, insulated mugs, drinking glasses, and regular-sized plates. Each set is color-coded so you can easily identify which item belongs to which person while camping. Best of all, the superior materials GSI uses are non-leaching plastic. The set also comes with a mesh stuff sack. The sack is ideal for wash n’ go travel.
3. Integrated cooking prep set. We recommend the Kitchen 23. GSI Outdoors makes the Kitchen 11 and the Kitchen 23, which both contain cooking prep essentials. These include a grater, salt and pepper container, liquid containers, cutting board, dish rag, whisk, and measuring cup. We tried the Kitchen 11, which contains the basics. We recommend it. However, we especially recommend the Kitchen 23 because it also contains 4 full-sized cutlery sets. We once forgot cutlery while in the wilderness. We had to find innovative ways to stir our coffee and eat cereal, soup, and other items for which we needed a spoon. The Kitchen 23 is great because it ensures you won’t have to cook like a gourmet but eat like a caveman!
4. Integrated coffee maker. As any good gourmet knows, great coffee is essential to any gourmet endeavor. We tested the 50 0z. Java Press. This great portable coffee pot made it possible to make fresh drip coffee while camping. It is an extremely well-designed product which serves up fresh coffee on the go. Although GSI Outdoors markets it as portable french press coffee, it functions in design as a drip coffee maker. Then, all of the components fit compactly inside the thermal coffee container for storage. The one recommendation we would like to add regarding the use of this product: make sure your water is very hot when you add it, for it takes longer to drip than a regular, electric coffee maker.
The key word here is integrated. Every great camper knows that you need to find items that pack well and meet your basic needs without burdening you. We have found that GSI Outdoors makes several innovatively practical camping supplies that will take the chaos out of your camping. We highly recommend this company and its products.
