Elegance In The Wilderness: Old World Charm Near Fredericksburg, Texas

Trois Estate

Welcome to Elegance In The Wilderness in an unusual and enchanting Bed and Breakfast of Old World charm near Fredericksburg, Texas.

Almost 20 miles North of Fredericksburg, Texas lies a hidden gem that is like leaving modern-day America and stepping into a 19th century Spanish village. Rebecca and Charles Trois bought 57 acres over a decade ago and have been transforming their property into a living, three-dimensional artistic Old World village that makes you feel as if you have stepped into a painting.

Authenticity is so important to the Trois’ that Charles spent 1 month in Mexico to learn how to craft masterful brickwork on the ceilings of their estate. To call this a bed and breakfast is almost disrespectful. Five-hundred year old doors graced the front of the Michelangelo, the stand-alone adobe room in which I stayed. A presidential-style courtyard quietly and gracefully leads you to the award-winning five-star restaurant.

As you pass through the heavy wooden doors, time stands still in the elegant dining room that greets you. Treasured artifacts are on display on the glass-topped tables which double as display cases for historical artifacts which the Trois’ have collected from around the world, some dating back more than two-thousand years.

You may be fortunate enough to dine at the table which displays Napoleon’s personal dagger. I had the pleasure of eating breakfast on top of a fossil collection that almost predates time itself. The ambiance of this surreal yet inviting estate is both enchanting and a one-of-a-kind must-have experience.

From the graceful courtyard, a stairway leads to the roof of the restaurant, which is fully covered and is an ideal place to watch sunrises and sunsets over Enchanted Rock State Park. Enchanted Rock is a large granite rock created by a volcanic eruption long, long ago.

The Trois Estate has become a notable wedding destination offering first-class accommodations, exquisite gourmet meals, and an ideal setting for wedding photography. It is a place that all guests and visitors will remember and talk about for years to come. Hidden behind the solitude of the adobe setting, you will find a banquet hall that seats 300 guests.

Saving the best for last, the Trois Estate is home to an underground chapel and grotto. The chapel provides a memorable underground setting to host weddings. The grotto contains a warm bathing pool in an intimate cavern setting.

During my visit, I had the privilege of meeting Rebecca Trois. She made me feel as if I was in the home of one of my closest friends. She is one of the most gracious and warm-hearted people I have ever met. Her passion for Trois Estates causes her to glow when she speaks about this wonderful place.

Charles Trois has a passion for collecting unique treasures. One of the most unique we have ever seen is his collection of cap guns; it is, in fact, the world’s largest cap gun museum.

The Trois Estate is truly “Best Of The Best” in every way. It will take your travels from ordinary to extraordinary. We highly recommend it.
